Super 6: Tulcan Energy Signs N10m Deal With NWFL

Nigeria Women Football League (NWFL) has signed a mouthwatering sponsorship deal with Tulcan Energy Resources Limited for its NWFL 2022 Super 6 tournament taking place in the ancient city of Benin, Edo State.

The deal, which has boosted the morale of the organisers of the tournament and participants will ensure the winner, first runner up, and second runner up go home with N5million, N3million, and N2million respectively.

According to the sponsor, who will also provide kits for the competing teams, this gesture which the energy company intends to sustain, is a means to contribute to the growth and development of sports in the country.

“Our strategy and intentions are to grow the sports and that’s the reason we are sponsoring the NWFL Premiership Super 6. We are also planning to sustain this,” Dolapo Akinwale, Tulcan Energy representative, said after signing the deal.

Reacting to the development, the President of NWFL, Aisha Falode, who reveled in the success of the league over the years despite not having sponsors, acknowledged the importance of Tulcan Energy’s deal to the event.

She said, “To run football in Nigeria is all about sacrifice. We’ve succeeded in running the league before without sponsors but now, we have a big brand for our premium football.”

The NWFL Super 6 scheduled from May 16 – 22, 2022, will see Bayelsa Queens take on Rivers Angels in the opening game of the tournament.

Despite the winner going home with the prize money of N5m, they will automatically qualify to represent Nigeria at the WAFU Zone B qualifiers for the CAF Women’s Champions League.

The competing teams for the NWFL Super 6 are Bayelsa Queens, River Angels, Delta Queens, Nasarawa Amazons, Naija Ratel and Edo Queens.
