OGUN, Nigeria — The Mountain of Fire and Miracles Ministries (MFM) Guitar Choir, Akute Mega Region SW229, has celebrated its 11th anniversary with a colourful and spiritually uplifting thanksgiving service held on Sunday, August 13, 2026.
The anniversary celebration featured soul-stirring renditions of gospel songs by members of the choir, creating a vibrant atmosphere of worship and praise as the congregation joined in celebrating more than a decade of musical ministry.
Coming a year after the choir’s 10th anniversary celebration, the event was a reflection of 11 years of perseverance, growth, dedication and commitment to advancing the cause of worship through music.
As the choir looks to the future, its leadership says it remains committed to raising the standard of worship and praise through guitar music while using its ministry to touch lives and reach more souls.
Looking Ahead
The choir’s plans for the coming years are both ambitious and intentional. Key priorities include expanding its membership, deepening musical training and equipping both new and existing members with the skills required to master diverse musical genres, from contemporary to classical.
Regular workshops for new members, continuous skills development and active participation in regional programmes will remain central to the choir’s development. These efforts, according to the leadership, are ultimately aimed at deepening worship, strengthening members spiritually and reaching more people through music.
Reflecting on the choir’s journey over the past 11 years, its Regional Leader, Brother Daniel Amolo, said there had been significant progress.
“There has been undeniable progress. Our sound is more polished, our performances more disciplined, and our members more spiritually grounded.”
He acknowledged that the journey was still a work in progress, adding, “While there is still room for growth, the journey so far has been encouraging.”
Looking five years ahead, Amolo envisions the MFM Guitar Choir, Akute Mega Region SW229, becoming a national reference point for excellence in guitar ministry, while mentoring emerging regional guitar choirs and playing significant roles in regional and international church programmes.
Beyond musical excellence, he said the choir also hopes to strengthen discipleship and encourage deeper spiritual growth among its members.
Appreciation for Church Leadership
Amolo expressed profound appreciation to the General Overseer of MFM, Prof. Daniel Kolawole Olukoya, and his wife, Dr. (Mrs.) Folashade Olukoya, for what he described as their unwavering support and commitment to excellence in worship.
According to him, the General Overseer’s vision for excellence in worship and his consistent emphasis on the role of music in ministry have remained major sources of motivation for the choir.
He also acknowledged the support of the Mega Regional Overseer, Dr. Ayo Smith, and his wife, Pastor (Mrs.) Adebimpe Smith, whose guidance, prayers, encouragement and logistical support, he said, have been instrumental in shaping the choir’s structure, discipline and alignment with the standards of the church.
From Humble Beginnings to a Vibrant Ministry
Established in July 2015, the MFM Guitar Choir, Akute Mega Region SW229, was inaugurated under the leadership and guidance of Pastor Samuel Odejayi and Pastor Benjamin Amolo, both of the MFM International Headquarters.
What began as a gathering of passionate individuals united by a love for music and ministry has, over the years, developed into a vibrant regional guitar choir within the MFM fold.
The choir’s most notable achievement came in 2022, when it was recognised as the Best Regional Guitar Choir.
From its inception, the choir was established with a clear vision of promoting spiritual, academic, moral and musical development among its members, while supporting church services through quality guitar ministration.
“We started with a significant number of interested members,” Amolo recalled. “Over the years, we’ve grown not just in numbers, but in experience, skill, discipline and confidence.”
Today, the choir has more than 45 active members, each contributing uniquely to its sound and ministry.
Training, Service and Evangelism
Structured training programmes introduced over the years have contributed significantly to the choir’s musical development, enabling its members to minister confidently at major church programmes and other high-profile events.
The choir has been a consistent participant in major MFM programmes, including Power Must Change Hands, regional thanksgiving services, MFM Mega Crusades, as well as international guitar choir competitions and programmes hosted at the MFM International Headquarters.
Beyond its participation in major church programmes, the choir has also taken its ministry to the grassroots by organising local talent hunts and musical outreach programmes aimed at discovering and nurturing young talents.
Through these initiatives, the choir seeks not only to develop musical abilities but also to use music as a platform for evangelism and positive spiritual influence.
Collaboration and Mentorship
Another important factor in the choir’s development has been its strong relationship with the MFM Guitar Choir at the International Headquarters and other regional guitar choirs within the ministry.
Amolo particularly acknowledged the contribution of Dr. Joseph O. Olubukola, Leader of the MFM Guitar Choir Worldwide, whose leadership and vision, he said, have played an important role in the development of the regional choir.
Through structured platforms, virtual training sessions, joint rehearsals and inter-regional collaborations, the Akute choir has benefited from the exchange of musical ideas, exposure to new arrangements and continued opportunities for improvement.
These collaborations have helped the choir pursue excellence not only in musical proficiency but also in discipline, teamwork and spiritual growth.
A Future of Greater Impact
After 11 years of service, the MFM Guitar Choir, Akute Mega Region SW229, appears poised for another phase of growth and greater impact.
With an expanding membership, continued investment in training, a commitment to spiritual development and strong collaboration with other guitar choirs within MFM, the choir’s leadership remains focused on building a sustainable ministry that will inspire worshippers, nurture emerging talents and contribute meaningfully to the spread of the gospel through music.
For the members of the choir, the 11th anniversary is therefore not merely a celebration of the past, but a renewed call to greater dedication, excellence and service in the years ahead.
