NIGERIA: The National Chairman of the Peoples Redemption Party (PRP), Hakeem Baba-Ahmed, has described President Bola Tinubu as a failure, accusing his administration of failing to deliver on its promises to Nigerians after three and a half years in office.

Baba-Ahmed made the assessment during an interview on Channels Television on Tuesday night, arguing that despite inheriting a country plagued by poverty, insecurity and weak institutions, Tinubu had not done enough to address the challenges confronting Nigerians.

“Tinubu inherited Nigeria, but what has he done with it? He inherited a poor country; he inherited weak institutions; he inherited poverty and insecurity,” he said.

While acknowledging that the problems predated Tinubu’s administration, the PRP chairman said the President had spent enough time in office to be held accountable for his performance.

“We don’t blame him, but he’s been in power for three and a half years. He is a failure,” Baba-Ahmed declared.

He also accused Tinubu of being aloof and insufficiently responsive to the difficulties facing Nigerians, arguing that the administration had fallen short of expectations.

His remarks add to the growing political criticism of Tinubu’s handling of the country’s economic and security challenges as political parties and opposition figures intensify scrutiny of his administration ahead of the 2027 general elections.
