Tanzania’s Adel Amrouche First Coach To Be Fired At AFCON 2023

NAIROBI, Kenya – Former Harambee Stars tactician Adel Amrouche has been fired by Tanzania as the head coach after just one match-which they lost- at the ongoing 2023 Africa Cup of Nations in Ivory Coast.

In a statement released by the Tanzania Football Federation on Friday, Amrouche was sacked immediately while in Ivory Coast and appointed Hemed Morocco as the interim coach.

The Tanzania Football Federation said it was forced to relieve off the Algerian born tactician after the Confederation of African Football (CAF) banned him for eight matches after a complain filed by the Morocco Football Federation.

The Morocco Football Federation complained that Amrouche made remarks insinuating that Morocco has influence in CAF and can collaborate with referees to influence decisions.

“Following the CAF decision to ban Amrouche, the Tanzania Football Federation has fired Adel Amrouche as the head coach and appointed Hemed Morocco as the acting coach,” the Tanzania Football Federation announced.

Taifa Stars of Tanzania lost 3-0 in their opening group F match against Morocco.
