LAGOS, Nigeria – The Lagos State Commissioner for Information and Strategy, Mr. Gbenga Omotoso, has announced that several major projects embarked upon by the administration of Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu will be completed and commissioned between the end of this year and next year.

Omotoso made this known during an interactive session with journalists in Lagos over the weekend, emphasizing that Governor Sanwo-Olu and his deputy, Dr. Kadri Obafemi Hamzat, are committed to ensuring that no project initiated by their administration is abandoned.

He stated that significant progress had been made on several flagship projects, including the new Massey Children’s Hospital, the Opebi-Mende Link Bridge, and the Ojo General Hospital.

“All the beautiful projects that you see—those we have started—we are going to complete them. The new Massey Hospital is almost completed, and the Opebi-Mende Link Bridge will be commissioned before the end of the year,” Omotoso said.

“What remains are finishing touches. And you know, it’s not just the building that makes a hospital; you have to equip it. That’s where we still have work to do. But by next year, the hospital will be ready for commissioning.”

The Commissioner also revealed that several food hub projects initiated by the state government are nearing completion, describing one of them as the largest of its kind in sub-Saharan Africa.

“Some of our food hubs are already completed and will soon be commissioned. Early next year, if not before the end of this year, we will unveil the biggest one in sub-Saharan Africa,” he said.

“It’s a hub capable of storing food to feed about five million people for at least three months. In times of famine or food inflation, we can release some items to stabilize prices. It’s a facility that should excite everyone.”

Omotoso further highlighted the government’s progress in the transport sector, noting that construction on the second phase of the Blue Line Rail and the Red Line Rail projects is ongoing and would be completed before the end of Governor Sanwo-Olu’s tenure.

“As we speak, meetings are ongoing on the Green Line Rail project, which will soon commence. Everyone will see appreciable progress, if not full completion, before we leave office,” he said.

In addition, the Commissioner listed several housing projects nearing completion across the state, including those in Odo-Onosa, Sangotedo, and Badagry, where the Ajara Housing Estate was recently commissioned.

He reaffirmed the government’s commitment to project continuity, saying, “It’s not in the DNA of the APC administration to abandon projects. Whether in housing, health, or infrastructure, no project will be left undone.”

Omotoso also disclosed that the government would soon commission what he described as the largest school in West Africa, located in Ajegunle.

“It’s a massive, world-class school—something truly amazing and transformative for the area. Very soon, everyone will see it,” he concluded.
