Well wishers at the event described Oyekola as “the quiet strength behind the scenes” whose leadership ensured operational stability and seamless coordination of church activities over the years. In his tribute, the Akute Mega Regional Overseer, Pst Ayo Smith praised the retiree for his integrity and steadfastness. “For years, he carried the weight of administration with grace and wisdom. A very dedicated worker, Pst Oyekola is ever ready and willing to help with anything in the church. His loyalty to God’s work and his commitment to this ministry have left a lasting imprint on our church,” he said.

Members of the congregation also shared personal testimonies, highlighting his accessibility, mentorship and fatherly counsel. Many noted that beyond policies and procedures, he led with compassion and a deep sense of responsibility to the church. Described as a man of prayer, various groups in the church summarised that the retired administrator was a highly reliable minister.
Speaking at the event, the planning committee chairman, Elder Alex Lawal, said it was a privilege for him to champion the celebration. “Pst Oyekola has served this church faithfully with a sense of humour, diligence and total commitment to God and members of this great Church for over 20 years. We are glad to honour him today.”

In his response, Pst. Oyekola expressed gratitude to the church leadership and members for their trust and support throughout his tenure. He reflected on the journey with humility; acknowledging the collective effort of the pastoral team, staff and volunteers in achieving shared goals. He encouraged the church to remain united and focused on its spiritual mandate.

The afternoon concluded with the presentation of gifts, a commemorative plaque and special prayers for a fulfilling and impactful retirement season.
While he steps away from formal administrative duties, church leaders affirmed that his legacy of excellence, discipline and service will continue to guide the ministry’s future.
