PSG Have Found Kylian Mbappe’s Replacement! French Giants Back In For Victor Osimhen As They Continue Pursuit Of Napoli Team-Mate Khvicha Kvaratskhelia

Paris Saint-Germain want to sign Victor Osimhen and Khvicha Kvaratskhelia to compensate for Kylian Mbappe’s departure, according to reports.

WHAT HAPPENED?

The French champions will need to get their heads down in the transfer window this summer after Mbappe announced he will be leaving. His departure is said to free up over €200 million (£172m/$216m) and PSG are keen to reinvest that into their squad, with Osimhen and Kvaratskhelia the top targets.

WHAT THE REPORT SAID

According to Italian outlet Gazzetta, the Parisians tried to bring the Nigerian striker to the Parc des Princes last season and the player has history with sporting director Luis Campos, who brought him to Lille before his move to Napoli. Luis Enrique would reportedly be happy with him or the Georgian but would prefer to sign a few players capable of scoring at least 20 goals a season.

THE BIGGER PICTURE

While losing Mbappe is a significant blow to PSG’s aspirations of winning the Champions League, the team may become more balanced without him. Whereas the club is used to having stars like Neymar and Lionel Messi, Luis Enrique will no longer have to manage superstar egos and he can instead focus on building a young and hungry squad.

WHAT NEXT FOR PSG?

The Ligue 1 outfit have two games left to play in the 2023-24 campaign after being beaten 3-1 at home by Toulouse. They are out of sight of second-placed Monaco but will want to finish on a high against Nice and Metz.
