Ikoyi Building Collapse: Lagos Govt Lifts LASBCA GM’s Suspension After Panel Clearance

BENJAMIN OMOIKE

Following release of a white paper on a highrise which collapsed recently in Ikoyi, during which dozens of lives were lost, including that of the owner of the project, the Lagos State Government has directed its building controlling agency (LASBCA) General Manager, Gbolahan Oki, to return to office, after being cleared by a panel constituted to investigate the incident.

The decision of government, as gathered, was reached after the state Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu and his cabinet members agreed that the suspended general manager was innocent of the incident, as indicated in the white paper.

It was learnt that several seatings were held to determine Oki’s involvement before the building collapse incident and that the GM had appeared before several panels, including Personnel Management Board (PMB), that determined the LASBCA boss’s fate under Lagos state public service rule.
