Designer Of Nigeria’s Flag, Pa Akinkunmi For Burial April 29

OYO, Nigeria – The man who designed the green-white-green Nigerian Flag, the late Pa Taiwo Akinkunmi, will be buried on April 29, it has been learnt.

The illustrious Nigerian died on August 29, 2023 at the age of 87.

Another elder statesman, who was a classmate and friend of the late Pa Akinkunmi, the Baale of Ekotedo, Ibadan, Elder (Dr.) Taiye Ayorinde, confirmed that his late friend would be buried late April, 2024.

He added that Governor Makinde had taken it upon himself to give the late elder statesman a befitting burial.

However, other family sources disclosed that the order of activities for the final burial of the iconic Nigerian was yet to be released.

It was learnt that the burial date was fixed by the Oyo State governor, Engineer Makinde.

Prior to this development, there had been concerns and agitation by the family and citizens as regards the delay in committing the remains of the national hero to mother earth.

It will be recalled that the Minister of Information and National Orientation, Alhaji Mohammed Malagi, who led a Federal Government delegation on a condolence visit to the family in Ibadan on September 4, 2023, announced Federal Government’s promise of a befitting burial for the late Pa Akinkumi.
