Former Olympic champion, Engr Chika Chukwumerije, has revealed plans of staging one of the biggest sports and entertainment event in the federal capital territory in December.
Chika made this revelation following the successful completion of the 6th edition of the CCSF invitational taekwondo championship on Saturday in Abuja.
According to him, he said the event will be a fusion of music and comedy which is part of the strategic innovation aimed at promoting and pushing the frontiers of sports entertainment in the country.
He noted that music has an attractive and a captivating influence when fused with comedy, can offer opportunities that will draw people’s attention, believing that they, the ex-athletes, coaches and the sports media industry can come together to offer such a memorable and a mind boggling event to the public.
“There is a bigger one coming in December, am going to keep pushing the frontiers of sports entertainment, I feel comedy and music have always provided a lot of opportunities, so if a comedian and a musician puts a show together, you’ll see a lot of people trooping in to that show.”
“We in the sports industry, from the Ex athletes, the Coaches, the referees, the sports media, to the administrators, are you saying our industry cannot offer something to the public they can come to?
“Today shows you that we can, so in December we can make it better, we can get feedback and say what can we do that will make you come.”
“It’s our industry, when we start doing programmes like this, we will start reaping the benefits financially and in popularity.”
