Abel Amadi Elected Assemblies Of God’s New General Superintendent

Rev Dr. Abel Amadi has been elected new leader of the Assemblies of God, Nigeria. The election took place on Thursday at the 37th General Council meeting of the Assemblies of God Church, held at Evangel Camp, Okpoto in Ebonyi State.

Rev. Dr. Amadi was elected following the retirement of Dr. Ejikeme Ejim which is in December 2022 after 44 years. He polled  a total of 3,233 votes to defeat Rev. Godwin Amaowoh, his closest rival who polled 1,208 votes.

Until his election, Rev. Dr. Amadi was the District Superintendent of the Assemblies of God Nigeria’s Owerri East District.

 Assemblies of God worldwide is the largest Pentecostal group in the world with over 60 million followers. It started in Nigeria in 1935.
