Although several governments have adjusted minimum wages upward, real living standards depend on purchasing power, which is being steadily eroded by inflation and rising prices.
In many countries, income gains have failed to keep pace with the cost of basic goods and services.

Mozambique’s minimum wage is about $104.92 per month, reflecting its low-income status despite increasing investments in agriculture and energy. The country recorded 2.5% GDP growth in 2025.

Lesotho’s minimum wage is about $139.40 per month, with the economy heavily dependent on manufacturing, agriculture, and remittances. GDP grew by 1.4% in 2025.
