HAWAII: Tobey Maguire acted as officiant for his ex-wife Jennifer Meyer’s wedding to Geoffrey Ogunlesi on Oct. 10 when they tied the knot in Hawaii.
With great friendship, comes great responsibility.
Though often unusual among exes, Tobey Maguire and his ex-wife Jennifer Meyer have stayed close in the years since their 2016 split—so much so that the Spider-Man actor was tapped to officiate her wedding.
Indeed, when Meyer tied the knot with Geoffrey Ogunlesi at the Four Seasons Resort Lanai in Hawaii on Oct. 10, it was Maguire who stood at the helm, leading them through their vows.
For the occasion, Maguire—who shares kids Ruby, 19, and Otis, 17, with Meyer—donned a black suit with matching tie, as seen in photos obtained by TMZ, while Meyer stunned in a strapless bridal gown and her now-husband wore a classic tuxedo.
The ceremony was a star-studded one, too, and not just because of the superhero standing in the mix. In addition to Maguire, celebrities including Courteney Cox, Leonardo DiCaprio and Vittoria Ceretti as well as Jeff Bezos and Lauren Sánchez Bezos were in attendance.
The nuptials also come five months after Meyer and Ogunlesi—who is the son of Nigerian billionaire lawyer and investment banker Adebayo Ogunlesi—welcomed their first baby together.
Meyer announced the news on Father’s Day, captioning a post of Ogunlesi holding their newborn.
“A perfect month with our perfect baby girl,” she captioned the June post. “We love you the most @geoffo212. Happy Father’s Day.”
As for Maguire and Meyer’s path to friendship after breaking up, Meyer has admitted the road wasn’t always an easy one, especially as they navigated coparenting.
“Our daughter was 10 or something,” she said in December while on the Inside Edit podcast. “Those are some intense times that you need to stay connected. And then we had a son who was 7. You’re raising kids at an intense time.”
She added, “It was not easy every day, and I’m sure he would say the same thing, 100 percent. We definitely had to overcome some big hurdles.”
Thankfully, the journey—which also included attending therapy together—was a worthwhile one, with Meyer and Maguire being the best of friends today.
“I now have an ex-husband who is my best friend and would do anything for me, and I would do anything for him,” Meyer explained. “Anything in the world.”
