NIGERIA: Dr Moses Paul, popularly known as Dr Mo or MadMo, has emerged as the new National Coordinator of the Obidient Movement, taking over the coordination of the political support network as it intensifies its activities ahead of the 2027 general election.
Paul emerged from a virtual meeting involving national leaders and state coordinators of the movement with the presidential candidate of the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC), Peter Obi, on September 30, 2026.
He succeeds Dr Yunusa Tanko, who previously served as National Coordinator before his appointment as Special Adviser to Obi on Northern Nigeria.
A serial entrepreneur, social activist, creativity manager, performer, scholar and grassroots organiser, Paul has built a profile around human capital development, civic engagement, creative programming and leadership development.
According to a report by Nigerian Tribune, Paul has been involved in initiatives focused on capacity building, coaching, creative discourse and interventions designed to promote human ingenuity and create opportunities for emerging leaders.
The Abuja-based politician has also participated in thought-leadership initiatives, engaging young leaders on public communication, leadership, civic participation and strategies for citizen mobilisation.
Paul is the convener of the Free Nigeria Movement, a coalition comprising civil society organisations, youth and women groups focused on good governance, responsible citizenship and social activism.
Through the platform, he has participated in advocacy programmes and initiatives addressing social and governance challenges, with particular emphasis on citizen engagement, capacity building and creative approaches to social intervention.
His emergence comes as the Obidient Movement seeks to consolidate the structures developed under Tanko and strengthen its grassroots presence ahead of the 2027 elections.
During Tanko’s tenure, the movement established offices across Nigeria’s 36 states and the Federal Capital Territory, while also developing regional and grassroots structures.
Paul is now expected to coordinate the existing network while overseeing the movement’s activities, mobilisation and engagement with supporters as Obi’s political platform moves towards the 2027 general election.
His appointment places him at the centre of efforts to maintain cohesion among the movement’s various state and grassroots structures while sustaining its engagement with young people, civil society groups and other supporters of Obi.
