Jota’s Widow To Inherit £35m Estate After 11-Day Marriage

Liverpool footballer Diogo Jota sadly passed away last week in a car accident in Spain. His brother, Andre Silva, also died in the crash.

Both were buried over the weekend in their hometown of Gondomar, Portugal. Many of Jota’s former teammates and Liverpool’s current squad were present to pay their respects.

Jota’s wife, Rute Cardoso, whom he married just eleven days before the accident, is expected to inherit a large estate worth around £35 million. Though they married just 11 days before his death, they had been in a relationship for more than a decade. The legacy is expected to provide financial stability for her and their three children — Dinis, Duarte, and Mafalda. It has also been reported that Liverpool may honor the rest of Jota’s contract by continuing to pay his family for the remaining two years.

Jota earned significant money throughout his football career. He made nearly £4 million while playing for Wolves and over £8.6 million during his early years at Liverpool. He later signed a deal worth £140,000 per week, which amounted to more than £21 million. He was also expected to earn an additional £14.5 million before the end of his contract. If the full amount is paid, his Premier League earnings alone would total around £34.4 million, excluding income from sponsorships and his involvement in Esports.

Though it is unclear how much Jota had spent during his life, he did purchase a five-bedroom house in North Liverpool in 2022 for over £2.1 million. He also had a passion for luxury cars and reportedly owned several high-end vehicles, including a Porsche 911 Turbo S, Ferrari 488, Audi Q7, and a Mercedes-Benz G63 AMG.

Jota’s legacy in football remains strong, and he continues to be remembered with admiration and respect.
