I’ve Not Quit Super Eagles, I Took A Break – Musa

Super Eagles captain, Ahmed Musa, has clarified rumours about his retirement from the national team. The former Leicester City striker, who hasn’t played in Nigeria’s recent matches, confirmed that he’s only taking a break and hasn’t exited the team.

Musa missed all seven matches at the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) in Cote d’Ivoire, where Nigeria finished as runners-up, and the last two World Cup qualifiers. His last start was in 2021 against Cape Verde, and his most recent appearance was a brief stint in a friendly against Guinea in January.

Speaking in Kaduna after organising the AREWA Celebrities Friendly Match, Musa emphasised his commitment to the Super Eagles and his desire to promote unity among northern Nigerian celebrities.

“I only took a little break from the National Team. But I didn’t exit the team,” Musa said, dispelling retirement rumours.

The friendly match was aimed at fostering unity among AREWA celebrities, promoting community and togetherness
