…Innovation key to Edo’s economic growth, says biz commissioner, vows to eliminate bottlenecks, empower MSMEs
EDO, Nigeria – The newly-appointed Commissioner for Business, Trade and Investment in Edo State, Honourable Omoh Anabor, has charged management staff of the ministry to embrace innovation and think creatively in driving the state government’s economic vision.
Speaking during his inaugural meeting with management staff in Benin City, Anabor emphasized the commitment of the Governor Monday Okpebholo-led administration to deliver the dividends of democracy through the SHINE Agenda.
Anabor, who brings extensive global experience from the private sector, pledged to leverage his expertise to enhance efficiency, eliminate bureaucratic bottlenecks, and reposition the ministry as a driver of economic growth in the state.
“I want to work with everyone. We must eliminate bottlenecks, work smarter and faster,” he said. “It’s not about me; it’s about the SHINE Agenda of His Excellency. We must be visible, we must do better.”
The Commissioner announced plans to hold regular meetings aimed at identifying performance gaps, fostering accountability, and improving service delivery within the ministry.
He further highlighted that one of the ministry’s key mandates is to create a conducive environment for businesses to thrive, provide support and training for Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs), and collaborate with other ministries and agencies to attract both local and foreign investments into Edo State.
Anabor also underscored the importance of youth empowerment through entrepreneurship, noting that productive engagement of young people would help curb social vices such as internet fraud.
“This ministry is the business hub of government, and we must play our part in empowering our youths to become innovative entrepreneurs,” he stated. “There are smarter ways of doing business, and we must embrace them to position Edo State as a leading destination for investment and enterprise.”
The Permanent Secretary, Barr. (Mrs.) F. N. Edokpolor, along with other management staff of the ministry, attended the meeting.
