NIGERIA: The Eagle Online, the digital news publication founded by the late journalist Oladotun Samson Oladipo, will continue operations following his sudden death, his family has announced.
Oladipo died on Tuesday, August 25, 2026, leaving behind the publication he founded in 2012 and built into an established digital news platform.
In a statement signed by Taiwo Oladipo on behalf of the Oladipo Family, the family said a business continuity plan put in place by the late publisher had been activated.
The family said the plan was being refined to ensure that The Eagle Online continues to operate in line with Oladipo’s vision.
“Dotun had the foresight to put in place a business continuity plan. That plan has now been activated and is being refined to sustain the publication in line with his vision,” the statement said.
According to the family, Oladipo devoted a significant part of his life to journalism and regarded The Eagle Online not only as a business, but also as a platform for responsible journalism and public service.
The family said the publication had over the years earned the trust of readers, advertisers, partners and other stakeholders, adding that preserving that trust remained a priority.
“Our intention is to preserve the legacy Dotun worked so hard to build while ensuring that the publication continues to grow and serve its readers effectively,” it said.
The family also assured advertisers and commercial partners that existing relationships and commitments remained important as the publication navigates the transition following the founder’s death.
It appealed to readers, partners and other stakeholders for continued confidence, understanding and support.
The statement also expressed appreciation to those who had reached out to the family following Oladipo’s death.
“Dotun may have left us, but the work to which he devoted so much of his life will continue,” the family said.
“The Eagle Online will continue to fly.”
