Asisat Oshoala continues to prove why she remains one of the greatest African footballers of all time. The Super Falcons striker, fondly known as “Agba Baller,” enjoyed an outstanding 2025/26 season with Saudi Women’s Premier League side Al-Hilal, finishing her debut campaign with an impressive 30 goal contributions.
After joining Al-Hilal on a two-year contract in September 2025, Oshoala wasted no time making her mark. The Nigerian star featured in 20 matches and delivered remarkable numbers, scoring 24 goals and providing six assists to cap off a sensational first season in Saudi Arabia.
Her move to Al-Hilal came after an illustrious spell abroad. Oshoala spent five successful years with Barcelona Femení, where she established herself as one of the most prolific strikers in women’s football. Before arriving in Saudi Arabia, she also had a brief stint with Bay FC in the United States during the 2024 season.
Oshoala’s journey to global stardom reached new heights at Barcelona. Across her time with the Spanish giants, she scored 117 goals in 162 appearances, becoming one of the club’s most reliable goalscorers. Her consistency in front of goal played a crucial role in Barcelona’s domestic and European dominance.
Season after season, she delivered impressive performances. From scoring eight goals after arriving on loan in 2019 to leading Barcelona’s attack during their historic treble-winning campaign in 2020/21, Oshoala consistently demonstrated her quality at the highest level. She also finished as the joint top scorer in Liga F during the 2022/23 season.
Her trophy cabinet reflects an extraordinary career. With Barcelona, she won three UEFA Women’s Champions League titles, multiple Liga F crowns, Copa de la Reina trophies, and Supercopa de España titles. She also lifted league titles in China with Dalian Quanjian, won the Women’s FA Cup with Arsenal, and claimed domestic honours with Rivers Angels in Nigeria.
On the international stage, Oshoala has been equally successful. She has won three Women’s Africa Cup of Nations titles with Nigeria and remains one of the most influential figures in African women’s football history.
Her individual achievements are equally remarkable. Oshoala holds the record as the most decorated African Women’s Footballer of the Year, winning the prestigious award six times. She was named BBC Women’s Footballer of the Year in 2015 and made history as the first African woman to win the UEFA Women’s Champions League, a feat she later achieved three times.
Now back in top form, the 31-year-old forward is preparing for Nigeria’s upcoming international friendly matches scheduled for June at the Remo Stars Stadium in Ikenne, Ogun State. With the Women’s Africa Cup of Nations on the horizon, Oshoala will be eager to carry her club form onto the international stage.
