IBADAN, Nigeria – As the day for the commencement of the maiden edition of Africa Paralympics Games draws nearer, Team Nigeria is said to be fully prepared to storm the games.
The games, which will hold from September 3 through September 12, in Accra, Ghana, will serve as a prelude to the main All Africa Games scheduled to hold in the same country next year.
According to the president, Paralympic Committee of Nigeria (PCN) Sunday Odebode, the athletes had been training hard for the games ‘and they are fully ready for the podium to make the country proud.”
Odebode disclosed this in a release made available to journalists in Ibadan, Oyo State, adding that Nigeria would participate in wheelchair basketball (male and female), wheelchair tennis (male and female) and amputee athletics (male and female).
“I can state categorically that the team is fully ready and well prepared for the games. Though, it is not going to be easy ride but with the level of preparation adequately put in place, our athletes are in full top gear, well equipped and prepared for the games,” he said.
Also speaking, the PCN Secretary, Isah Suleiman, assured that all hands were on deck to ensure a successful outing for Team Nigeria, stressing that the athletes were in a good frame of mind to make the country proud.
