HRH, Alhaji Aliru H. Momoh, Ikelebe III, Otaru of Auchi Sacred Kingdom has played host to the Presidential Candidate of Labour Party and Former Governor of Anambra State, His Excellency, Mr. Peter Gregory Obi (CON) on Friday at the Auchi Royal Palace.
The monarch stated that the bane of Nigeria’s progress despite the abundance of resources is corruption and that it is high time corrupt practices are jettisoned by all in view of saving the country from total collapse.
His Highness encouraged all to vote wisely in the forthcoming elections stating that everyone has to be deliberate in the struggle towards rescuing Nigeria from the hands of the few who gain from the suffering of many.
“If we must succeed as a human race, we must shun, first of all, corruption otherwise we may continue to punish ourselves,” he said.
Otaru of Auchi made reference to insurgency in the North, perennial flooding down south, poverty, unemployment and as well as the criminal tendencies accompanying same and stated that even though Nigeria has all it takes to be a producing state, the country has become largely a consuming nation despite having all it takes to be a global power.
“Nigerians must be ready to labour now so that the nation can come out of her challenges. Let everyone take up this responsibility as we march towards 2023 general elections” the monarch,” he urged all.
