ABUJA, Nigeria — The Independent National Electoral Commission will on Tuesday hold a national stakeholders’ meeting and World Press Conference to mark 100 days to the 2027 general elections, with the commission expected to provide an update on its level of preparedness for the polls.

The engagement, scheduled for the Bola Ahmed Tinubu International Conference Centre in Abuja, will focus on critical areas including the voters’ register, candidate nominations, logistics and measures to safeguard the integrity of the electoral process, the commission said in a statement obtained by our correspondent on Monday, reports The PUNCH.

The INEC Chairman, Prof Joash Amupitan, SAN, is expected to address the gathering alongside other stakeholders in the electoral process.

According to the commission, the meeting is aimed at providing Nigerians and key participants with a comprehensive update as preparations for the elections enter the final 100-day stretch.

“The Commission will provide updates on preparations for the elections, including the voters’ register, candidate nominations, logistics and critical measures to ensure the integrity of the electoral process,” INEC said.

The commission said the stakeholders’ meeting would also strengthen engagement with institutions and groups whose activities are crucial to the conduct and security of the elections.

It added that the engagement underscored its commitment to transparency, proactive communication and collaboration with key actors across the electoral ecosystem.

Expected participants include political party leaders, security agencies under the Inter-Agency Consultative Committee on Election Security, members of the diplomatic corps, development partners, civil society organisations and election observer groups.

Disability rights advocates, religious and traditional leaders, youth organisations and media executives are also expected at the meeting.

The event comes as INEC enters a critical phase of preparations for the 2027 elections, with the commission expected to complete several administrative, logistical and technological arrangements ahead of the polls.

INEC did not indicate whether any changes to the electoral timetable would be announced at the meeting but said Amupitan and other key stakeholders would address the gathering.

The meeting is scheduled for 10am on Tuesday, October 6, at the Bola Ahmed Tinubu International Conference Centre, Abuja.

The commission said the proceedings would be broadcast live on major national television networks and streamed on its official social media platforms to enable wider public participation.

Attendance at the venue will be strictly by invitation, while accredited journalists and invited guests are required to present their invitation cards or accreditation badges at security checkpoints.
