Born on June 21, 1956, in Owan West Local Government Area, Edo State.
2. Education
Studied Political Science at Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria, graduating in 1980.
Obtained a Law degree from the University of Benin.
Earned a Master’s degree from the University of Lagos.
3. Entry into the Police Force
Enlisted in the Nigeria Police Force on December 1, 1981.
4. Career Highlights
Served in key roles, including Commissioner of Police in Akwa Ibom State.
Rose to Assistant Inspector-General of Police in charge of Intelligence.
Headed the Force Criminal Intelligence and Investigation Bureau (FCIIB) before becoming IGP.
5. Tenure as IGP
Became Nigeria’s 18th Inspector-General of Police in April 2015.
Retired from the Force on June 21, 2016, upon reaching the mandatory retirement age.
