…vows to protect asset against saboteurs

ABUJA, Nigeria – The Nigeria Union of Petroleum and Natural Gas Workers (NUPENG), has congratulated the President and CEO of Dangote Group, Alhaji Aliko Dangote, on the successful commencement of gasoline production at the Dangote Refinery and Petrochemical Company.
The union also pledged its full support in protecting the refinery from any attempts by economic saboteurs to derail its progress.
In a congratulatory letter signed by NUPENG’s General Secretary, Comrade Alabi Olawale, the union praised the efforts of President Bola Tinubu, Alhaji Dangote, and the entire management and staff of Dangote Refinery.
The letter described the achievement as historic and a testament to the courage, determination, and visionary leadership of Alhaji Dangote.
Olawale said that the milestone, which was achieved on Sunday, September 1, 2024, marks a significant moment in Nigeria’s quest for energy independence and economic development.
While highlighting the refinery as the world’s largest single-train petroleum refinery and petrochemical plant, the oil worker’s union emphasized the significance of this accomplishment not only for Nigeria but for the entire African continent.
“This day has been long anticipated and awaited with bated breath and prayers not only by Nigerians but by the entire continent of Africa.
“We are very proud of you, Alhaji Aliko Dangote. You are a man with uncommon courage and determination. You have dared to dream and thread where no mortal has ever done.
“This remarkable achievement at the world’s largest single-train petroleum refinery and petrochemical plant is a testament to your unwavering commitment, innovation, and excellence in the energy sector.
“We recognize the immense efforts and dedication that have gone into making this vision a reality. The successful production of Premium Motor Spirit (PMS) at this state of the-art facility not only marks a significant milestone for Dangote Refinery but also represents a monumental step forward for Nigeria’s energy independence and economic growth.
“Alhaji Aliko Dangote, your visionary leadership and relentless pursuit of excellence have been instrumental in achieving this feat. Your contributions to the industrialization and economic development of Africa are truly commendable, and we are proud to witness the positive impact of your endeavours on our nation.”
NUPENG further expressed pride in witnessing the positive impact of his endeavours on the nation, even as the union reiterated its commitment to the welfare and advancement of workers in the petroleum and natural gas industry, noting the new opportunities for employment and socioeconomic prosperity that this development would bring.
In its message, NUPENG also recognized the potential challenges posed by economic saboteurs who might seek to undermine this achievement.
However, the union pledged to defend and protect the progress made by the Dangote Refinery, vowing to use all its resources to support the continued success of this landmark project.
“As a union dedicated to the welfare and advancement of workers in the petroleum and natural gas industry, NUPENG is excited about the opportunities this development will bring in terms of employment for Nigerians, socioeconomic prosperity and monumental growth of our dear country.
