OGUN, Nigeria — Captain of Nigeria’s Super Falcons, Rasheedat Ajibade, has credited her recent Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON) triumph to divine intervention, during an emotional thanksgiving visit to the Mountain of Fire and Miracles Ministries (MFM) in Ogun State.
Ajibade, who led the national women’s team to their 10th WAFCON title in Morocco, attended the August edition of MFM’s monthly “Power Must Change Hands” programme held at the church’s Prayer City along the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway.
Amid cheers and heartfelt prayers from the congregation, the Atletico Madrid forward presented her winner’s medal and individual awards to the church’s General Overseer, Dr. Daniel Olukoya, and his wife, in what she described as an act of gratitude to God for His faithfulness.
“Whenever things get difficult—whether at my club or with the national team—I turn to God in prayer,” Ajibade told the congregation. “I do my part through hard work, but I never forget to seek divine help.”
In a stirring testimony, the 25-year-old footballer recounted her humble beginnings as a young girl who once sold olive oil, kunu, and zobo drinks outside the same church gates during past deliverance services.
“I was one of those young girls hawking drinks and olive oil right here. Today, I return to give glory to God for how far He has brought me,” she said. “Please don’t give up. Keep praying, keep fasting, keep working, and keep believing.”
Ajibade’s story of perseverance and faith struck a chord with many worshippers, highlighting the transformative power of faith, discipline, and resilience.
