…At MFM Global Ministers Conference, GO warns ordinands, says ‘spiritual authority comes from God, not men’
…sounds alarm on internet pastors, urges authentic calling

OGUN, Nigeria – In a significant spiritual milestone for the Mountain of Fire and Miracles Ministries (MFM), the General Overseer, Dr. Daniel Kolawole Olukoya, on Sunday, August 17, 2025, ordained 5,000 pastors during a solemn ceremony at the Prayer City, along the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway.
The ordination marked the climax of the ministry’s 2025 Global Ministers Conference, a four-day event themed “The Message, The Messenger and The Power”. The gathering drew participants and ministers from across Nigeria and the international MFM community.
Addressing the newly-ordained ministers ahead of the Sunday worship service, Dr. Olukoya issued a stern warning against spiritual rebellion, pride, and the dangers of self-appointment in ministry. He charged the new pastors to remain faithful, humble, and wholly dedicated to their divine calling.
“Rebellion is a killer,” Olukoya declared, citing the biblical example of Absalom, the rebellious son of King David, who died tragically during a civil war. “Any rebellion will have supporters — people who will cheer you on, fund you, and encourage you to misbehave — but the end is destruction.”
The MFM leader expressed concern over the proliferation of self-appointed spiritual leaders, particularly on the internet, who bear titles such as “general overseers”, “papas”, “prophets”, and “superintendents” without divine backing.
“They can call themselves anything, but time will tell,” Olukoya stated. “When the winds of trials come, we shall sift the weeds from the chaff.”
He pressed home the point that true anointing comes solely from God, not from men or institutions, noting that ordination by human hands is symbolic unless validated by a divine calling.
“You are ordained today. The question is: whose anointing are you carrying? Is it the oil of God or the oil of man?” he asked the crowd of newly-ordained pastors. “If it is of men, you better back out now — it is not too late.”
Olukoya underscored that while men may recommend or recognise individuals for pastoral work, only God sees the heart and can genuinely call and empower ministers for His service.
“No human being can ordain you in truth. We can call you, the church can call you, but we cannot anoint you,” he affirmed. “Even Satan can call people, but he cannot anoint them. The devil can give someone a platform, but he cannot impart the Spirit of God.”
He further warned the ordinands against spiritual abuse and misconduct, urging them to shepherd God’s people with humility, diligence, and righteousness.
“You must not oppress the sheep. You must remain busy in the Lord’s vineyard. From today, your life should not remain the same again,” Olukoya concluded, pronouncing blessings on the new ministers and encouraging them to be examples of true Christian leadership.
The ordination event was attended by thousands of church members, visiting dignitaries, family members of the ordinands, and international delegates.
