Super Falcons Winger Rinsola Babajide Joins AS Roma

AS Roma Femminile, have officially completed the signing of Nigerian international winger Rinsola Babajide, following her standout season with UDG Tenerife in Spain’s Liga F, www.aclsports.com reports.

The 27-year-old joins the Italian giants as a free agent after her contract with Tenerife expired. Babajide enjoyed a stellar 2024–25 campaign, scoring 10 goals and providing 5 assists. Her explosive pace, direct dribbling, and attacking versatility made her one of Tenerife’s most dangerous players since arriving from Real Betis in 2023.

AS Roma confirmed the deal in an official statement:

“AS Roma is pleased to announce the signing of Omorinsola Omowunmi Ajike Babajide, known as Rinsola Babajide. The player has signed a contract with the Club that will run until June 30, 2027.”

Born in 1998, Babajide began her career in England with stints at Liverpool and Brighton & Hove Albion before moving to Spain in 2022, where she played for Real Betis and then Tenerife. Between 2015 and 2019, she represented England at youth level before switching allegiance to Nigeria in 2023, a move that added fresh firepower to the Super Falcons’ attack.

Since debuting for Nigeria in October 2023, Babajide has quickly established herself as an integral part of the Super Falcons. At the ongoing 2024 WAFCON, she impressed in the opening match against Tunisia, scoring a goal and assisting another for Asisat Oshoala.

In her first words as a Roma player, Babajide expressed pride and excitement about her new challenge.

“It’s an honour, to be honest,” she said. “It’s a Champions League club and a prestigious club, so I’m very happy to be here.”

Asked about her first impressions of Italian football, she added:

“I feel like it’s similar to the Spanish league, everyone is technical, and it’s a competitive league.”

On what she expects from her time in Rome, Babajide said:

“I feel like just being in Rome alone is precious, it’s an amazing experience. Even with the team and getting to know the girls. The goal is to secure a Champions League spot and try to win as much silverware as possible in the league and cup games.”

Describing her playing style, she explained:

“I’m an overly direct, speedy, and technical player down the wing. I love to beat my players 1v1, get crosses in, take shots, and score goals.”

Her target for the coming season is clear:

“Silverware for the team,” she said. “And to personally contribute even more than I did last season.”

Now, Babajide’s immediate focus is helping the Super Falcons complete Mission X and reclaim the WAFCON title. After that, she’ll channel her ambition, speed, and skill into making a lasting impact with Roma, chasing trophies in Italy and beyond. The journey has just begun.
