OGUN, Nigeria — The Chief Security Officer (CSO) of Harmony Esteem Community Development Association (CDA), Mr. Oluwaseyi Shodunke, popularly known as “Chicago,” has been appointed the General Youth Leader of the Akute Community Development Council (CDC), Ogun State.
The appointment, which took place on Saturday, July 12, 2025, places Mr. Shodunke at the helm of youth leadership across 28 CDAs under the Akute CDC umbrella. His elevation is seen as a recognition of his dedication, commitment, and active engagement within the Harmony Esteem estate and the larger Akute community.
Speaking on behalf of the Harmony Esteem CDA executive team, Mr. Ernest Abebe, Treasurer of the association, commended the appointment as well-deserved and inspiring.
“This achievement is a testament to his leadership skills, dedication, and passion for our community,” Mr. Abebe stated. “We extend our heartfelt congratulations to Mr. Shodunke and urge all residents to rally behind him in this new capacity.”
Mr. Abebe further emphasised the need for collective support from residents, highlighting the importance of cooperation and encouragement in ensuring the success of Mr. Shodunke’s new role.
In his response, a visibly elated Mr. Shodunke expressed deep appreciation for the trust and support he has received from the community, especially during his time as interim CSO following the passing of the former CSO, the Late Mr. Frank Ero.
“I want to express my sincere gratitude to everyone who has supported me throughout this journey,” he said. “Being entrusted with this responsibility is an honour, and I remain committed to working diligently with all stakeholders for the development of our community.”
Mr. Shodunke also welcomed constructive feedback from residents, noting that it would help him grow in the role and better serve the community.
“I believe in open communication and continuous improvement. Please feel free to share your suggestions and observations with me. Together, we can achieve great progress,” he added.
His appointment has been widely welcomed within the Harmony Esteem estate and beyond, as many see it as a step toward strengthening youth representation and fostering development across the Akute region.
