Favour Ofili Shatters 150m World Record

Nigerian sprint queen, Favour Ofili, made history on Saturday at the 2025 Adidas Atlanta City Games, blazing to a world record time of 15.85 seconds in the women’s 150m event held at Piedmont Park in Atlanta.

First Woman to Run Sub-16 Seconds in 150m

The 22-year-old Favour Ofili stunned the crowd by becoming the first woman ever to run the 150m in under 16 seconds, smashing the previous world record of 16.23 seconds set by Shaunae Miller-Uibo in 2018. Her sensational feat headlined what turned out to be a dominant display by Team Nigeria at this high-profile street athletics competition.

Tobi Amusan Qualifies for Final With Strong Performance

Nigerian track star and world 100m hurdles record holder, Tobi Amusan, continued her steady climb back to top form. She clocked 12.53 seconds to finish second in her heat behind Keni Harrison of the USA (12.44s), thereby booking her place in the final.

Amusan’s recent performances—12.74s in Xiamen and 12.66s in Keqiao—show that she is regaining peak shape ahead of this summer’s international championships.

Another Nigerian making waves at the event was Udodi Onwuzurike, who ran a season-best 10.20 seconds in the 100m to finish second in his heat behind South Africa’s Akani Simbine (10.13s). His performance secured him a spot in the final and is a strong indication that he’s on the path back to his best in the 2025 season.
