The superlative form of the Super Falcons of Nigeria at the on- going FIFA Women’s World Cup in Australia did not come as a surprise to Irish footballer, Heather Payne.
Speaking with www.totorinews.com after the goalless affair between Ireland and Nigeria on Monday night in Brisbane, she revealed that Nigeria parades a very good team, but the FIFA ranking has not done justice to reflect their strength in women’s football.
“Nigeria, obviously a top team. The FIFA ranking does not give Nigeria justice,” Heather Payne said.
“We all saw how good they can be against Australia, the goals they can score after defeating Australia 3-2. Nigeria is a very good team.
“It was really tough group and difficult games for Ireland, such unfortunate to be in the same group with Nigeria, Canada and Australia,” she said as Ireland ended at the bottom of the group.
